I have to confess, this isn’t my favorite category, but I get the mushies sometimes.
My favorite of all time is a fairly obscure David Bowie/ Rosanne Arquette film called The Linguini Incident. It’s so darned quirky! I think it’s now available on YouTube. For the longest time, if you didn’t grab a going-out-of-business, video store VHS copy, there was nothing. It didn’t go to DVD for eons. The dialog alone is noteworthy. But hello, did I say David Bowie? Are you even going to keep reading? This is not a story you’ve heard before. Fun characters, fresh story. LOVELY ending. Full review follows.
And of course Princess Bride is in a category all by itself… need to do a review of that, don’t I?

Close runner ups:
Love Actually (2003)
White Palace (1990)
Arthur (1981)
Philadelphia Story (1940)
Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001)
Jeffrey (1995)
The Wedding Singer (1998)

The Thin Man Series 1957-1959 (6 films with Myrna Low and William Powell) This couple had so much chemistry that people thought they were really married. Clever, impossible, charming. My folks drank martinis and I can tell you they were in no shape to go solve crime afterwards, but these films are charming, and if I could spend a day looking like Myrna Low, or fit into her fabulous wardrobe, I’d be in heaven. Hey, did you know? Her nose was considered the perfect nose. Plastic surgeons in Hollywood made beaucoup bucks for recreating the Mryna nose on countless starlets.

Anyhoo, I’ll keep posting them as I think of them. Holler if you’ve got favorites!
